THE SECRET TO THE BEST LIFE

July 26, 2013

Over the past couple weeks I've been dealing with a truck load of stress, (i.e. the stress of my workplace, the stress of a bad roommate, the stress of apartment hunting, the stress of that ever hanging question, "Am I living the best possible life, and am I reaching my possible potential?" etc.)
I've realized that happiness isn't so much what we have or what we're doing, as it is our mindsets and how we react the situations we're placed in. I've realized you have to learn how to handle yourself.
You can't change anyone's attitudes but your own, and the only thing worth focusing on is yourself.
When I say, "focus on yourself" that may come off a bit selfish, but in reality it's not.

Focus on how you can serve others, not change them, but serve them.
Focus on what you are grateful for & your blessings, not what other people have been blessed with.
Focus on how to fix what you might struggling with, not what qualities are lacking in other people.
Focus on what makes you a better person.

The big secret to life is that you have to learn to be content with how things are and find your own happiness. If you see yourself saying, "I'd rather being doing this, than this" or "I'd rather be this kind of person, and doing this kind of thing" Then set your goals and make it happen. I took a look at my goals for 2013 again today, and it really put me back on track with what I want out my life. I realized my stress stemmed from the simple fact that I wasn't doing what was making me happy. If you're not in love with your job, quit it. If you're not in love with your roommates, move out. Work towards those things you want instead of being idle, sitting back and complaining about the situations. Get up and do something to make your life better today.
