So this past weekend, I spent Saturday and Sunday listening, and even having the huge blessing of attending a session of General Conference in Salt Lake City. For those of you who don't know, I'm a Latter Day Saint, or commonly known as Mormon. Let me just say that I am a Christian, as Christ is the center of my life, the center of what I believe, and the center of my happiness. This was the first time I was able to attend General Conference, which happens twice a year, once in April, and then again in October. Over the course of two days, I was able to listen to divine and living prophets, and apostles, just as millions did the same via internet, satellite broadcasts, radio, etc. As I stepped onto the grounds of the conference center, I couldn't help smiling! I was overwhelmed with love, gratitude, and happiness. As I entered the meeting, tears welled up in my eyes, and I began to cry. They weren't sad tears, believe me, they were all happy. There was something just so spiritually awakening, and special about being there. As I kept listening intently, I just wanted to jump up and down, run to everyone that I know, hug them, and tell them just what I believe, so that they could feel the way I was feeling, which was pure happiness! I want to share that with you too.
I BELIEVE in a loving Heavenly Father, and my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know without a doubt that they are with me during every moment, and every step of life's sometimes trying journey. They have all the answers, and whenever I feel alone, whenever I feel disappointed, hurt, burdened down or simply just discouraged, they are only a prayer away. I know that hope and happiness is always an option, and in the darkness of trials, they can lift me up into triumph. No matter how many mistakes I make, I will be able to be forgiven if I go through the right process of repentance because of Christ's atoning sacrifice. The world often tries to tell us, we're not good enough, we're not smart enough, we cannot excel, we are ordinary, but I am here to tell you that is not the case! With Jesus Christ, we can do all things, we are extraordinary, meant for greatness and meant to be the very best we can be. I can be perfected in Him. I am a daughter of God, and I know that He loves me with a perfect love, and I am His child, and so are you. Families are special, just as we have an earthly family, we can have an eternal family with the promised blessing of being together forever which we can receive in His holy temples. Marriage does not end at death, but it can go onto the eternities because of temples, and the special ordinances which happen inside. Loving one another is a commandment, a duty which we were given. We were placed on this earth to lift one another, be a source of light, friendship, and beacon of hope. Fear is not in my vocabulary, as I have faith in my Savior, and in the future blessings which I can obtain through obedience. I never have to wander through life and its uncharted waters afraid, because with the Lord at my helm, it is all smooth sailing. I love this gospel, I love this church, I love how it has changed my life, and how it has made me closer to the person that God intended me to be. I can say with confidence that Jesus Christ lives, He lives, and He loves us.
