Last night I went to one of the best local, best live, concerts I think I've ever attended.
On a spur of the moment decision, Rhett & I decided to head up to the Velour to check out the concert that was going on,
*It was all Rhett's idea, and oh-my-goodness-I'm-so-glad-he's-so-smart
If you haven't heard already, Provo is the best place to find the best upcoming bands, especially at the Velour. Neon Trees, Imagine Dragons, Mindy Gledhill, the Used, Ryan Innes... (you get the picture) A talent melting pot is what I'd call Utah. I went last night for the sole purpose of hearing "The National Parks", but I was quickly blown away from all the other performing groups, Sarah Degraw, and my newest obsession, Westward the Tide, and of course Rhett & I really got a kick out of Kansas City's, Attic Wolves. I think in that moment even I wanted to grow a beard. You would understand if you had been there too with their gnarly beards, vocals, and sweet harmonies.
But now on the subject of The National Parks.
No doubt, this is quickly becoming my favorite band, I love raw music, you know, the kind that speaks to your soul, the kind that makes you want to go on a really long drive to who knows where, and dance on top of a mountain, and lay under the heat of the sun. I'm being 100 percent serious. This band is run by only three, Brady Parks, Sydney Carling, and Paige Wagner but it is jammed packed with soul.
The best way to describe their music? It's free spirited mountain air - it's refreshing.
Now onto the subject of covers, I'm not a fan usually unless the band/artist/group etc. really know how to make it their own. Last night Brady Parks, did the main vocals for a Passion Pit cover of, "Sleepyhead" My gosh. I fell in love with that song all over again (which is saying a lot). Even though it's not on their recently released album, "Young", I've been listening via the video they posted of this dynamic cover on their Facebook.
Be sure to head on over to iTunes, and buy this album, your ears will thank you.
ANDDDDD just in case you wish to be swept off your music feet, here's a video for your little hearts to fall in love to. You're welcome.
