MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY / SMOOTHIE RECIPE

With my constant on the go schedule, my body has been taking a beating. I've literally been feeding my body nothing but pizza, DQ blizzards, and nutella & peanut butter sandwiches, with an occasional burrito. Yeah, just typing that out makes me cringe, not the best thing in the world. I've noticed how hard my body took the way I treated it this past week, with constant bags under my eyes from the lack of water I was drinking, and I was just tired all the time. I decided I needed to get back on the right track with eating healthy and getting back in shape. I teamed up with my friend Jacinda, and we decided we'd start off every morning, promptly at 8:30 with a run. I forgot how much joy running brings, and the energy it gives me. I used to be an avid runner, tackling about 6-8 miles at a time, so that's my goal for this summer, to run Monday-Saturday, eventually working up to 8 miles. But it's not just running, it's making living well a life style. I had really slacked off during moving week, and then it just carried over to the next week, and as much as it would be easier to continue eating garbage, I only have one body for the rest of my life, and frankly I want to keep it in the best condition as possible. So after my run, I made this giant fruit smoothie, and made sure I took my vitamins (which includes: 500mg of Vitamin C, 300mg of St. Johns Wort)
I have already noticed that I feel more energized and ready to tackle this Monday.
I've also included my simple smoothie recipe below,

INGREDIENTS
1 cup of frozen mixed black berries, red raspberries, and blue berries
1 cup of vanilla greek yogurt
1/2 cup of milk
1/2 cup of luke warm water
1/2 cup of strawberries
2 tablespoons of honey
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
1 tablespoon of flax seed

Blend everything together.
Simple as that.
Your body will thank you, I promise.

  2. The smoothie looks yummy! Isn't it crazy to think how influential our diet and exercise habits are on our mood? I always find that when I eat well and work out I'm in a better mood.

    Thanks for the motivation!
